A decade ago Elise Mellor wasn't expected to live a normal life. Now she attends Castleton State College, in Vermont, and doesn't bemoan what others would consider a raw deal. "It comes up in conversation with friends at school because it's part of me-part of what makes me me," she said.
"I can't emphasize enough how traumatic Elise 's injury was," said Dr. Tabin. "She had the worst brain injury to ever survive, possibly in the country-most likely because she was young, strong and intelligent."... doctors recently spoke about Elise during a conference on traumatic brain injury.
